This is one of the cleanest and most appealing BMW E36 M3s out there
Even for die-hard BMW fans, the E36 M3 might not push all the buttons, as for example, the E46 M3. However, the M3 of this generation is still one of the favorite vehicles for any enthusiast out there. And this particular Arctic Silver BMW E36 M3 is definitely one of the cleanest examples seen to date. Naturally, it features something from the Forgestar bag of tricks. In the case of this BMW M3, a set of Forgestar M14 modular formed wheels.
When the first units of the BMW E36 M3 hit the U.S. shores back in 1994, the car quickly garnered a lot of enthusiast attention. Well, even though the model that was imported to the United States differed from the European one: it was less powerful and somewhat slower. Unlike the Euro model, the U.S. version of the E36 M3 used the S50B30US engine with an output of 240 horsepower and 305 Nm (225 lb-ft). When compared to Europe spec models, it also sported a different suspension setup and it did a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time in about six seconds. The E36 M3s in Europe could rely on a straight-six S50 engine that produced 210 kW (282 hp). The M3 of that generation was available with a five-speed manual or an automatic transmission.
Nevertheless, BMW took note and with 1996 MY, they’ve rectified the issue. It was back then when the M3’s engine displacement was bumped up to 3.2 litres. While it still produced just 240 horsepower, the torque was increased to 240 lb-ft (320 Nm) – the same as with the S52B32US engine used in the early M Roadster and the M Coupe. And this is the same vehicle model we’ve got here today. However, with this BMW M3, almost no stone was left unturned when it comes to aftermarket tuning parts.
First, the vehicle received a bevvy of aftermarket aero additions. Namely, this BMW M3 features a new front lip, matte black kidney grille surrounds, a rear aero spoiler and several smaller design details that push the envelope on this build, cleaning up its visual appearance. The owner also replaced the front headlights with a newer lighting system. Add the gorgeous and rather impeccable interior alongside the 5-Speed manual, and this is definitely an enthusiasts’s car in every way. However, there was still one thing left missing from this build: a set of Forgestar wheels.
This particular Artic Silver BMW E36 M3 features a set of Forgestar M14 modular forged wheels. In a nutshell, this means that the wheel centers and the inner barrel are rotary formed, while the lip is forged roll. In turn, this simplifies the whole production procedure, but also, cuts the cost of the wheels, making them a more affordable alternative to fully forged wheels. For this build, these two-piece wheels are machined in sizes of 18×8.5 in the front and 18×9.5 in the rear. Finally, the wheels feature a Gloss Gunmetal finish.
Thanks to their custom specs, these wheels clear the large Brembo brakes with ease and these, in turn, improve the stopping power of this BMW M3. Additionally, the red Brembo brake callipers behind these mesh style wheels also add a bit of eye candy, that’s for sure.
